ABOUT US
The ever changing light and colours never fail to intrigue me, and I always see something different every time I look at a scene. I try to capture the atmosphere and movement in my paintings , always striving to improve. I try several media and learn from how the different materials react, sometimes with one another.
Colour and texture are very important aspects of my work, I continually experiment with colour and love seeing what happens when I use unusual colour schemes. The outcomes are often exciting and make me want to push even further.
Creating pictures with textiles is a very different experience. The basics are the same but the construction is so far removed from applying paint . I love the feel of the fabrics and how they change when put next to , or layered over each other? The sewing machine used as an implement to create art is tricky to control very accurately, but I also like the scribbly effect of when it goes wrong!
I feel very lucky living in Cornwall and appreciate all the varied land and seascapes that are so close at hand. I live overlooking the sea and never tire of watching the waves and what happens as they roll in; every wave is unique.
Painting is a wonderful activity, I spend hours lost in colour, shape, tone , texture, light and line - how could anyone not love feasting on such gorgeous ingredients.
