ABOUT US
...I also spent many years under the tutelage of Norman Rechter, a renowned European watercolourist. In addition I studied studio ceramics at Sunningwell School of Art and the Royal Forest of Dean College where I graduated with Distinction.
Watercolour is my first and enduring love, but I also enjoy the delicious texture of oils. My starting point is almost always landscape, and from observation my work leans towards the abstract. I am searching for a way of expressing how the landscape feels, and looking more and more to paint intuitively, balancing mastery of the medium with the mystery of allowing the paint to do what it wants to do.
I am a member of Cornwall Watercolour Society, Bude Art Society, East Cornwall Society of Artists and the Gwynngala art group. I have shown my work throughout the South West and in Oxford and London; and my work is held in private collections in the UK, Europe and Australia.
My Other Career started with volunteering in the UK, Papua New Guinea, and Kenya.
I went on to work for Oxfam for 6 years, first in Kenya, and then as Deputy Overseas Director.
Later I was a senior manager for a series of voluntary organisations, as well as doing freelance work evaluating the effectiveness of development projects in Africa and Asia.
