My jewellery is made from sterling silver, fine silver or copper wire. I make my own ear wires, fastenings and chains by soldering, melting and bending. I like to combine silver and copper in my jewellery pieces.
From a child I have been interested in fashion and jewellery, designing and making first for my dolls and then for myself. Major influences were my grandmother and mother whose fashion followed the styles of Dior and Jackie Kennedy.
When I designed my first jewellery ranges I wanted to create elegant necklaces and earrings to wear with retro 50s style dresses. These pieces are made from silver, freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals, making them more than just costume jewellery. I have used this same idea to create wedding accessories and hair adornments as keepsake pieces.
I have always been a very outdoorsy person but after moving to a smallholding in Cornwall and taking on two very lively Portuguese Water dogs - I am outside every day. Watching the seasons change, I observe detail and form in nature. My later ranges reflect the delicate wildflowers and leaves that I see. I am a daffodil surveyor for the Heralds of Spring Project run by Tamar Valley AONB. The project and I, as a jewellery designer, were featured in the March issue of Country Living.
