ABOUT US
As a member of The Devon Guild of Craftsman and other guilds I have enjoyed exhibiting in various galleries throughout the West Country.
I create my work in a wooden studio in the garden in Millbrook, on the beautiful Rame Peninsula, about 20 miles from here. My pieces are hand thrown, sometimes fluted, sculptured or altered to enhance the form. All the work is fired in a small electric kiln.
I have three styles: -
Red earthenware with slips and oxide decoration, combined with layered glaze overlay.
Porcelain with oxides and layered glazes in blue, green celadon and white.
Black textured body clay with porcelain slips and glazes overlaid.
My main influence is an exceptional Japanese ceramist Shoji Hamada. I sometimes seek the illusive perfect tea bowl just as the above Master would have done!
