ABOUT US

Subsequently, following a representational starting point, I diversify into a pared down semi abstract image. The subject matter is the main impulse and evokes my response. I combine a wide spectrum of subtle colour tones, mark making using painterly techniques, which include thickening agents generating texture. I also integrate stitching yarns into the canvas.

Various locations may have an emotional significance which I embrace as magical places. The intellectual intention being communicated is the sense of self, place and the environment, this being expressed through organic forms, riverbanks, woodland and seascapes.

There is a distinctive relationship between the pictorial content and the media employed. My aim is to suggest the atmosphere which entices the participant into sharing my experience of the location; this defines the essence of the image.

Through semi abstraction, texture, tone, form and line, the mark making evolves, defining spatial systems with in a discernable narrative composition."
